Meet the Rodney Coast Midwives

Sally Wilson
Bruce and I live in Warkworth. We have three daughters, Amelia, Gabrielle and Zoe. I am a registered Nurse and registered as a Midwife in 1982. I have been an independent midwife since 1992. I love midwifery and contact with women and their families. I believe women should actively participate in planning their care so it is individualised to their needs. I have a special interest in breast-feeding and enjoy teaching and keeping up to date in all obstetric and parenting matters. My interests are my family, travel, horses, gardening, reading, handcrafts and small block farming.

Nicky Snedden
I am a NZ Registered Nurse; then trained in Scotland as a midwife, qualifying in 1992. I have three boys, two of whom were born at home. Since 1999 I have been working with Rodney Coast Midwives, providing all aspects of midwifery care. I believe midwifery is a partnership, where women and their partners are offered sound information so that they can make informed choices about their care. I am actively involved in a church and several community groups. I enjoy my family, organic gardening and handcrafts.

Kathy Carter-Lee
As a midwife, my aim is to support women to have a positive experience, before, during and after the birth of their child. It is important to me to treat women as individuals, to inform and support them in making choices. I have wide experience as a midwife over the last 25 years, both in Britain and in aid agencies around the world. I returned with my husband (my best friend) to NZ in early 2007. My interests are walking, water activities and music. I have clients from Puhoi in the south to Kaiwaka in the north.
Birth Options: Home, Warkworth Birthing Centre, Wellsford Birthing Unit, North Shore Hospital or Whangarei Hospital.

Karina Wech
I am a recently registered midwife and I live in my home town, Warkworth. I view childbirth as a natural physiological process which is a significant event in each woman’s life.  I provide woman centred care and work in partnership with women, and their families, in order to empower them through their journey into parenthood.  I aim to build this partnership based on trust and respect for women.  My role as a midwife is to guide women and their partners through this journey by providing them with up to date research based information. I believe women should be actively involved in their experience to enable informed decision making and self care.
