Rodney Coast Midwives
Kathy Carter-LeeAs a midwife, my aim is to support women to have a positive experience, before, during and after the birth of their child. It is important to me to treat women as individuals, to inform and support them in making choices. I have wide experience as a midwife over the last 32 years, both in Britain and in aid agencies around the world. I returned with my husband (my best friend) to NZ in early 2007. My interests are walking, water activities and music. I have clients from Warkworth in the south to Maungaturoto in the north.

Nicky SneddenI am a NZ Registered Nurse; then trained in Scotland as a midwife, qualifying in 1992. I have three boys, two of whom were born at home. Since 1999 I have been working with Rodney Coast Midwives, providing all aspects of midwifery care. I believe midwifery is a partnership, where women and their partners are offered sound information so that they can make informed choices about their care. I am actively involved in a church and several community groups. I enjoy my family, organic gardening and handcrafts.

Terri JuryI graduated in 2011 and spent three years at Whangarei Hospital before becoming a Self-Employed Midwife. I feel that my role is to support and guide women through their pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey, ensuring a safe, happy and healthy experience. I believe in women making their own informed choices during this time in their lives and am happy to accommodate any individual/religious/cultural beliefs. I believe in the “less is more” approach during pregnancy/birth! I consider my part a privilege and a pleasure to be involved with your family/whanau. I live in Wellsford with my husband and two daughters. We enjoy various activities as a family, including travelling, fishing, cooking/baking, movies and gardening. Child birth is the most ordinary miracle - you can’t believe it happens every day!

Donna HamiltonCongratulations on your pregnancy. Childbirth is a life changing event and I feel honoured to be able to support and guide women and their families through this precious and sacred time. I aim to provide individualised, safe, up-to-date care throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. I endeavour to establish a good partnership with you to achieve a positive and unique experience that can be cherished. I am passionate about supporting women to achieve natural, gentle birth in low risk settings. However, having worked as a core midwife at Auckland Hospital I am aware that sometimes complications occur. Continuity and women centred care is important to me. I am enthusiastic about the postpartum phase and enjoy walking alongside women as they transition into motherhood. I live in Warkworth on my family farm, where I grew up. I value the importance of being surrounded by a strong and supportive network of colleagues, friends and family.

Melanie BrownleeCongratulations on your pregnancy! I am a Registered Nurse and LMC Midwife. I am passionate about women’s health, particularly in pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. It is a joy to share in the journey with women and partners as their families grow. Providing individualised care, unique to each woman is important in ensuring an enjoyable transition to becoming a mother. We have an admired maternity system in New Zealand where midwives like myself are highly skilled practitioners specialising in the normal while also recognising and referring to obstetric care if needed. I live in Mahurangi West with my family on a small block of land with an assortment of animals. I love spending time in the garden.

Creaghan MitchellI was born and raised on the North Shore and moved onto the Coast over 10 years ago. I have been practicing midwifery for 15 years. I feel that birth is an extremely personal and powerful time and women need to feel confident and supported with the choices they make. I am happy to support primary birthing at home, at Warkworth Birthing Unit, and at North Shore Hospital, I am happy to support waterbirth and also women who need a higher level of care with obstetric input. Birth can be natural and drug free but each woman needs to make choices that are right for her, her family/whanau and her particular circumstance. Pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period is an amazing time in any woman's life but when you look back it is also a relatively short time. Becoming a parent and a family is something that lasts forever and I believe that if you lay good foundations at the beginning your journey will be richer. I look forward to sharing this time with you.
